Endoscopy nursing

A demonstration site was proposed earlier this year to test the role of nurse endoscopist in New Zealand. Unfortunately recruitment of a suitably qualified nurse endoscopist from the UK was not successful.

This has however provided HWNZ with the opportunity to look more broadly at the endoscopy workforce and we have shifted the focus of the demonstration to developing competencies and training for endoscopy nursing along with developing a career pathway which could include the nurse endoscopist role in the future.

More information about this revised demonstration will be announced in the coming months.
